01 Oct 12TH ANNUAL A DAY TO REMEMBER VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT AT CAPT’N BILL’S
This year marks the 12th anniversary for one of the most popular volleyball games in Wilmington NC – the Annual A Day to Remember Volleyball Tournament at Capt’n Bill’s Backyard Grill. This action-packed tournament is held every year in support of the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there are more than five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, two-thirds of which are women. In fact, someone in the U.S is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease every 67 seconds, and it is currently the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S.
At Capt’n Bill’s Backyard Grill, we have a personal reason for supporting the search for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. In 2003, our namesake, Mr. Bill Musser, lost his fight to this diabolical disease. It’s in his memory that we hold the A Day to Remember volleyball tournament and family festival, the proceeds of which benefit the Wilmington branch of Alzheimer’s North Carolina.
About the Volleyball Tournament
The A Day to Remember tournament is one of Wilmington’s most exciting games. The tournament is a four-person volleyball team competition. If you want to enter your team in the tournament, the early-bird registration price is $100. If you enter on the day of the tournament, the registration fee is $125. There is gameplay for every skill level of player. Available skill levels consist of the following:
- A Level = Advanced
- B Level = Intermediate
- C Level = Beginner
Divisions will be created for all skill levels and every participant will receive a commemorative tournament t-shirt and goody bag.
A Day to Remember Family Festival
The A Day to Remember volleyball tournament is unique in that it takes place alongside Capt’n Bill’s Family Festival. This makes the day all the more special and inviting for the entire family. The Family Festival is where all the fun is. We’ll be having pony rides, inflatable slides, face painting, clowns, vendor tables, and so much more! When your team is not scheduled to play, take some time off with the family and have some fun at the festival.
And if all of that isn’t enough, there will also be several prize raffles.
